Preparing Your Will
Estimated Size: 66kb

We would normally charge £150 for a simple Will; £200 for simple Joint Wills; £350 to £500 for a Will with Discretionary Trusts, £95 for Living Wills and in the region of £250 for a single Lasting Power of Attorney. All costs exclude VAT.

Why is it important to make a Will?

It is important to ensure that those who you wish to benefit do so. Without a Will this may not happen and your assets could be distributed according to the law rather than your wishes.

"Home-made" or "DIY" Wills can be unclear or invalidly executed, often ending up in disappointment and stress, and ultimately in expensive litigation.

We understand that some of the terminology associated with Wills may not be familiar, such as:

Testator - this is you, the person making the Will

Beneficiary - anyone who benefits from a Will

Estate - the total value of everything you own at your death, less any outstanding commitments

Codicil - a document that adds to or alters an existing Will

Executor - those people you choose to make your Will happen

Witnesses - two witnesses must see you sign your Will and you must also watch both of them sign it. They must also watch each other sign the Will and must not benefit from the Will

We take care to ensure that our clients fully understand all aspects of making a Will. We provide safe storage for your Will at no additional charge.
