Winterbothams LLP and A E Smith & Son to merge on 1 October 2008
A E Smith & Son and Winterbothams LLP have announced that they are to merge on 1 October 2008. The merged firm will be called AES Winterbothams LLP and will be the largest legal practice in Stroud. The new practice will combine the expertise of both firms to provide the community with a diverse and experienced legal service.
Peter Mardon, Managing Partner of Winterbothams says: “The two firms have embraced many changes throughout their 150 year histories. This is an exciting and positive development for the future of both firms, allowing our combined team to expand and continue to provide an ever-improving service to all our clients.”
Simon James, Senior Partner of A. E. Smith & Son says: “I am delighted to announce this news jointly with Peter Mardon. The merger will pool our expertise and allow us to provide an even more integrated and comprehensive legal service to our local community, whilst still operating from the heart of Stroud and Nailsworth.”
The two Stroud offices will continue to operate from Rowcroft and Frome House but Winterbothams’ recent acquisition of additional office space at 3 Rowcroft (adjacent to their existing offices) will allow their expanding team of talented lawyers to unite under one roof at Rowcroft in the longer-term while still providing the same range of services from the Nailsworth office
Both firms will be writing to all existing clients prior to 1 October 2008 with further details.
Solicitor produced HIPs
An increasing number of solicitors are directly producing Home Information Packs for clients, and A E Smith & Son reduced the cost of our in-house HIP from 24 April 2008. An AES HIP can be produced for clients who then use the firm for their conveyancing, or as a stand alone instruction.
A E Smith staff walking to raise funds for Cotswold Care Hospice
Staff from both the Stroud and Nailsworth offices will be taking part in the sponsored walk to raise funds for the Cotswold Care Hospice.
